Job Description:

  • Financial controls
    • Drive the financial performance of the business with a positive mind-set
    • Analyse financial data to assist the business in achieving pre-set goals
    • Identify internal control weaknesses and implement improvements
    • Oversee and assist audit function
    • Adherence to financial disciplines including segregation of duties
    • Monitor spend to budget and/or forecasts Planning
    • Meeting the company’s goals and objectives into the foreseeable future
  • Budgeting
    • Align to company’s goals and objectives
    • Prepare budgets and forecasts
    • Monitor actual performance against budget
    • Explain variances and report findings.
    • Take appropriate action where required
  • Management  
    • Accounting Statutory compliance - Comply with IAS and IFRS
    • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws
    • Apply policy protocols
    • Month end reporting and reviews
    • Meet monthly accounting deadlines
    • Review all financial reports distributed to various internal stakeholders
    • Review monthly reconciliations, including general ledger and bank reconciliations
    • Investigate and clear reconciling items timeously
    • Financial Year End
    • Meet the deadline for management accounts pack finalisation
    • Close out all audit requests/findings
    • Prepare Consolidated Annual Financial Statements
    • Submit annual tax packs
  • Systems
    • Hands on work required to ensure financial reporting is consistent with the underlying systems.
    • Streamline and add value in driving IT changes to enhance efficiencies
    • Analyse all IT reports for accuracy/errors/omissions
    • Reconcile all sub-systems to General Ledger
  • Staff reporting
    • Train and assist all staff members in the department
    • Maintain a pleasant work space atmosphere
    • Lead through setting an example yourself for others to follow
    • Provide guidance and impart know how
  • Planning
    • Define financial requirements against mandated goals and objectives; how annual and longer-term goals and objectives can be met through the use of financial resources, and translate these into specific financial commitments.
    • Assess these requirements in financial terms, determining what is achievable using available financial resources through costing all aspects of these requirements.
    • Provide a roadmap to support the budgeting process.


  • This role is for a Management Accountant or Financial Accountant
  • CIMA or BCom Management Accounting degree or similar
  • Previous experience in the motor vehicle trade industry (preferable)
  • 5-10 Year's Experience in a Financial Management Role
  • Super user advanced Microsoft Excel skills compulsory
  • Deadline driven, team player that is reliable and dependable
  • Take accountability and be able to handle criticism
  • Attention to detail with analytical insights
  • Dynamic positive attitude
  • Eager to learn and able to add value
